Brouwerij Dampegheest: characterful beer with a firm North Holland backbone
24 August 2026 · 4 min read
Known for the Alkmaars Blondje and the Merakels series - brewed just outside the city.
Just outside Alkmaar, among the meadows, stands Brouwerij Dampegheest. The name refers to an old salt marsh near Bergen - and that says everything about the attitude: this is beer that comes from somewhere.
For Alkmaar locals, the Alkmaars Blondje is the best-known calling card: an approachable, fresh blond beer found on nearly every terrace in the city. Dig deeper and you find the Merakels series - quirky beers in which the brewers show what they can really do.
Dampegheest doesn't brew for the whole world, but for the region. Small enough to make its own choices, big enough to execute them consistently well. You can taste it: beer with a firm North Holland character, without fuss.
In our boxes, Dampegheest brings that North Holland feeling: a beer that tastes of the surroundings where it was made.
