Brouwerij de Die: the city brewery that puts Alkmaar on the label
26 August 2026 · 4 min read
Beers named after the city itself, from '8 oktober' to 't Ciereadt van Alkmaar.
Some breweries are located in a city. Brouwerij de Die ís Alkmaar. The city brewery makes beers drawn straight from the history of the Cheese City - with names every Alkmaar local instantly recognises.
Take '8 oktober', named after the day in 1573 when the Spanish army had to abandon the siege of the city. Or 't Ciereadt van Alkmaar, a nod to the city's coat of arms. Every label tells a piece of the city, which is exactly what makes these beers so good in a gift box.
The beers are brewed with love for the craft: recognisable styles, carefully chosen ingredients and a clear character of their own. Not an anonymous lager, but a beer with a story you can tell alongside it.
In our boxes, De Die is often the first bottle to come out - and the first thing talked about at the table. Alkmaar in a bottle, literally.
