Christmas hamper with coffee: Alkmaar beans as the heart of your hamper

7 August 2026 · 2 min read

From freshly roasted beans to the right grind: here's how to build a coffee hamper that keeps delivering every morning.

Coffee is the most-used product from a Christmas hamper. Everyone drinks it, it gets used up, and you notice a good bean immediately.

What do you pair it with?

  • Chocolate or a bean-to-bar bar: a classic combination with coffee.
  • Stroopwafels or biscuits from an Alkmaar bakery.
  • A mug or reusable cup as a non-food element.
  • A card with brewing advice: quantity, temperature and time.

Mind the grind

Ask in advance whether your team drinks filter, espresso or cafetière coffee. Can't ask individually? Then choose whole beans plus an alternative tea option, or let people choose within the same budget.

Our coffee boxes

Coffee is included as standard in several compositions, including the Watertoren Box. See the full contents lists at Christmas hampers Alkmaar.

Tip: match the grind to the machine at home

The most common mistake in a coffee hamper: pre-ground coffee that doesn't suit the equipment. Ask one thing up front - filter, espresso, cafetière or pods - or default to whole beans, noting that the roastery grinds them on request. Whole beans also stay fresh longer.

Tip: add something that makes the coffee better

  • A dark chocolate bar with a flavour profile matching the roast.
  • Stroopwafels or biscuits from an Alkmaar bakery.
  • A card with brewing advice: dose, temperature and time.
  • For the enthusiast: a small scoop or filter papers.

Tip: choose one roast, not four sachets

Four 50-gram sample bags look fun in a shop, but at home they run out before you've dialled them in. One 250-gram bag from a regional roastery gives two weeks of pleasure and a story that sticks.

Tip: think of the non-coffee drinkers

Offer the same box in a tea version: loose-leaf tea from an Alkmaar blender, a filter and the same sweet accompaniment. Same box, same budget, nobody feeling skipped.

Tip: mind freshness and timing

Freshly roasted beans are at their best between two and six weeks after roasting. Delivering in the third week of December? Have them roasted in early December, not October. Put the roast date on the card - exactly the detail coffee drinkers look for.
