John Altman: two sisters who made the snack cupboard more honest

20 August 2026 · 4 min read

From two resignations in 2015 to organic popcorn and nuts with no unnecessary additions.

In 2015, Julie and Marie Claire van der Lande looked at the snack aisle and mostly saw long lists of ingredients. Two sisters, two jobs handed in, and one question: why can't a snack simply be tasty and honest at the same time?

The answer started with popcorn. Artisan-made, with flavours you don't come across every day - think sweet cinnamon - and now fully organic. The nuts and crisps followed in the same spirit: pure, recognisable, with no clutter.

Sustainability didn't stop at the product. John Altman works with recyclable packaging and looks at every part of the process, from sourcing to transport.

In our boxes, John Altman does exactly what it's meant to do: it's the moment someone opens the parcel and immediately wants to try something. Guilt-free snacking, with a story you can tell along with it.
