Brouwerij Zeglis: a small Alkmaar brewery that dares to experiment
19 August 2026 · 4 min read
Small-scale brewing with guts - including a wintry beer brewed with real pine needles.
Brouwerij Zeglis is the smallest brewery in our boxes - and perhaps the boldest. Where big breweries play it safe, Zeglis experiments freely, on a small scale and with great enthusiasm.
The best-known example is the wintry pine beer, brewed with real pine needles. It sounds odd and tastes surprisingly good: resinous, spicy and just right for cold evenings. That kind of courage is exactly what makes a local brewery fun.
Small-scale at Zeglis also means every batch gets full attention. No mega tanks, just beer watched by hand from kettle to bottle.
In our boxes, Zeglis is the beer people keep talking about: the experiment that proves how lively the Alkmaar brewing scene is.
